Winteringham is coming!
Tasting menus are all the rage these days, and with good reason. “Menu Surprise” (say it in a French accent) is the eight-course offering from Linconshire’s splendid Winteringham Fields restaurant. A first offering of beef consommé and truffle Welsh rarebit opens your mind for imaginative courses like pork belly with soy sauce gel and pheasant ravioli, making you feel like you’ve discovered a new colour several times over. The slow-roast octopus leg was rich with meaty stock flavours and tender as only a long, slow roast can achieve. A classic caramel mille feuille to end has all the right notes of salty burnt toffee and crispy pastry, making you wish you could manage another plateful. A good night out.
